Adil Sattar, MD, FACC is a highly recommended, multi board certified cardiologist, with a special focus on interventional cardiology and structural heart interventions. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the Structural Heart program at Wilkes Barre General Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He has years of experience in treating high risk cardiac patients and is highly skilled in opening up heart vessel blockages with atherectomy and stents, fixing heart valve diseases by catheter-based procedures, and providing exceptional general cardiology care.
Dr. Sattar has been awarded several honors and distinctions and is one of the few heart specialists in the area with 5 board certifications: Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Interventional Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), Nuclear Cardiology by the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC), Echocardiography and Stress Echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE) and a Registered Physician for Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).
Dr. Sattar earned his medical degree at Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois where he earned the 'Resident Teacher of The Year' award for two years in a row. He moved to Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia for his interventional cardiology fellowship and completed his fellowship training in structural heart disease interventions at NYU School of Medicine in New York, NY.
Dr. Sattar worked as an Assistant Professor in the division of Interventional Cardiology at Stony Brook University in Long Island, NY and also served as the Director of the Cath Lab at the VAMC in Northport, NY before joining Commonwealth Health in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Throughout his career, he has contributed to the scientific community through the publication of multiple articles, book chapters, and presentations at national and international conferences.
